COLOMBO, Sept. 18 -- The Police Illegal Assets Investigation Division has frozen assets worth approximately Rs 125 million belonging to two individuals in separate investigations into suspected illegally acquired wealth and money laundering.

The action was taken under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act against an individual from Wattala who is alleged to have acquired assets using proceeds from drug trafficking.

The frozen assets include a seven-perch plot of land and two houses in Hunupitiya, valued at approximately Rs 40 million, and a 17-perch plot of land with two houses in the Wattala area, valued at around Rs 30 million.
