No Sri Lankans reported among Nepal flash flood casualties
COLOMBO, Aug. 26 -- Sri Lanka's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said no casualties or injuries involving Sri Lankan nationals have been reported so far, following devastating flash floods in Nepal's Rasuwa District that have killed at least 95 people and left hundreds missing.
Sri Lanka's Ambassador in Kathmandu Ruwanthi Delpitiya has confirmed that an estimated 85 to 100 Sri Lankan nationals are currently in Nepal, including around 20 students who arrived in the country recently, as well as others working with international organizations there.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Thushara Rodrigo said the Sri Lankan Embassy in Nepal is expected to provide further updates on the safety of Sri Lankan nationals as more details emerge.
