Govt. dismisses opposition no-confidence motions as political theatrics
COLOMBO, July 16 -- Health and Mass Media Minister Nalinda Jayatissa on Wednesday (15) accused the opposition of exploiting every public issue for political gain, claiming it has become a habit to gather at former minister G.L. Peiris' residence to draft no-confidence motions against the government.
Speaking to reporters after an event in Colombo, Jayatissa said the opposition reacts in the same manner whenever issues such as the dengue outbreak, prison-related concerns, floods, or delays in coal shipments dominate the news.
"Whenever such issues receive media attention, opposition members rush to G.L. Peiris' house, hold discussions and create the impression that they are preparing no-confidence motions against the government," he said...
