India, Sept. 17 -- Spain has selected The Black Ball, or La Bola Negra, as its entry for the international feature film category at the Academy Awards, with the drama drawing attention for its exploration of LGBTQ lives across different periods of Spanish history. The film recently received a standing ovation at the Toronto International Film Festival.
A Story Spanning Generations
Directed by Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, known together as "Los Javis", the film follows three gay men whose stories unfold across different eras in Spain. The filmmakers described the project as a tribute to LGBTQ people from earlier generations who fought for human rights.
