India, Sept. 11 -- Saif Ali Khan has described his decision to act in the 2012 film Cocktail as an "inevitable mistake", saying he accepted the role primarily because he was also producing the film. Looking back, the actor said he considered the script somewhat regressive, even though the movie worked as a commercial entertainer.

Saif, who played Gautam alongside Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty, said his decision was driven less by the character and more by his responsibility as a producer. He explained that he wanted to ensure the film was made and therefore took on the lead role himself.
