India, Sept. 7 -- Robert Pattinson is stepping into one of the most unsettling roles of his career in Primetime, a dark thriller that explores the controversial world of paedophile-hunting television. The film, which premieres at the Venice Film Festival, marks Pattinson's first feature as a producer and sees him portray a character inspired by television presenter Chris Hansen.

A disturbing television premise

Primetime draws from NBC's To Catch a Predator, the reality series that ran from 2004 to 2007. Hansen became known for confronting adults who had been lured into meetings with people they believed were underage.
