India, Sept. 1 -- Actor Lakshmi Manchu has spoken candidly about growing up in what she described as a deeply patriarchal family, saying that being part of the prominent Manchu family may have complicated rather than accelerated her journey in the film industry.

A Double-Edged Family Identity

During an interaction with fans on Honest Town Hall, Lakshmi reflected on the influence of her father, veteran actor Mohan Babu, and her brothers, actors Vishnu Manchu and Manoj Manchu. She said the family name had been a "double-edged sword" and suggested that her career might have progressed further had she not carried the Manchu identity.
