India, May 18 -- Hollywood stars are increasingly venturing into international creative projects to explore unique storytelling mediums. During the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday, it was announced that Keanu Reeves will provide the voice for the lead character in "Hidari," a Japanese stop-motion action feature.
Legacy of the Edo Period
The film serves as a feature-length expansion of director Masashi Kawamura's 2023 proof-of-concept short. The narrative draws inspiration from the legendary master carpenter Jingoro Hidari of Japan's Edo period. After a betrayal causes him to lose his arm, his fiancee, and his father figure during the reconstruction of Edo Castle, Hidari seeks vengeance using a specially designed prosthetic limb.
