India, Oct. 22 -- The Golden Globes awards committee has reportedly turned down Lionsgate’s request to place the Michael Jackson biopic Michael in the Musical or Comedy category, meaning the film led by Jaafar Jackson will compete in the drama race at the 2027 Golden Globes, according to Variety.
Category decision and reported timeline
Michael will not compete in the category it was submitted for, the report said, and will instead enter the drama category, where there are six nomination spots available.
The report said the film could face competition from titles including Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and Los Javis’ La Bola Negra. Gold Derby was cited as the first to report the committee’s decision.
