India, Aug. 10 -- Dwayne Johnson has defended Disney's live-action Moana despite its poor critical reception and underwhelming theatrical performance, saying audiences are free to decide whether the remake works for them.

Johnson, who reprises his role as the demigod Maui, told People that the film initially received encouraging reviews before the response turned sharply negative. He acknowledged that the shift was difficult but said changing reactions are part of the film business.
