Dhaka, Aug. 12 -- Of the two floating LNG terminals in Maheshkhali, one is currently unable to unload gas while the other is still operating at partial capacity. As a result, the country's gas crisis has intensified further.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit said the Summit terminal is unable to unload its LNG cargo because the Bay of Bengal is rough. Meanwhile, the Excelerate terminal is operating at partial capacity. To restore the terminal to full capacity, it will have to be shut down again for around 72 hours, which he described as a major challenge.
