Bangladesh, April 24 -- Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood today said the government will supply natural gas to the Ashuganj Fertilizer Factory from May 1 in order to streamline the input supply for the agriculture sector.

"We have decided to supply gas to the fertilizer factory from May 1 considering the agriculture sector although the decision will hamper the power generation," he said.

The minister revealed the decision while independent lawmaker Rumeen Farhana (Brahmanbaria-2) raised a proposal in the Jatiya Sangsad demanding household gas connectivity in his constituency.
