Dhaka, Oct. 9 -- Trial electricity supply to the national grid from the first unit of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is expected to begin as soon as possible. Commissioning and initial start-up activities for the second unit are scheduled to begin next year.

A bilateral meeting was held in Moscow, Russia, on Friday between Bangladesh's Minister for Science and Technology, Fakir Mahbub Anam, and Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Russia's state-owned nuclear energy corporation Rosatom.

The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
