Kathmadnu, Feb. 24 -- Xtreme Energy Drink has pledged financial assistance of Rs500,000 for the treatment of national women's football team captain Sabitra Bhandari.

Bhandari, widely known as Samba and Nepal's all-time leading goal scorer, recently appealed for financial assistance after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her right knee during a match for Wellington Phoenix in January.

She is expected to undergo a complex surgery and lengthy rehabilitation.

In its press release on Tuesday, Xtreme Energy Drink described the contribution as a token of support to assist with her treatment and rehabilitation.
