Surkhet, Aug. 19 -- Prem Bahadur BK of Nalgaad Municipality-4 in Jajarkot lost his house in the November 2023 earthquake. His family spent nearly four months under a tarpaulin and has been living in temporary shelter for about two and a half years.

Of his family of eight, only he and his wife Subhadra remain at home. Their two sons have gone to India along with their families.

"There is no house and no reliable work. The grains from our three ropanis of hillside land do not feed us even for three months," said Prem Bahadur. "We have spent two-and-a-half years waiting for a new house, but we still do not know when it will be built. Our sons send Rs8,000 to Rs10,000 a month, and that is how we manage."
