Tracing the spaces memory leaves behind
Kathmandu, July 13 -- Indian visual artist Lalit Mohan Singh is presenting 'Inner Yards: Unmapped Memories', a solo exhibition at Artudio's Patan Wing in Nakabahil, Lalitpur, until July 15.
The exhibit is the culmination of Singh's participation in the Artudio International Artist Residency (AIAR), during which he developed a new body of work in Kathmandu. The works move through ideas of memory, absence, light, and time, imagining spaces that are not usually found on maps yet remain familiar in feeling.
Singh's paintings are built through layering, scraping, erasure and reconstruction. Doorways, walls, passages and shifting light appear not as direct architectural studies, but as traces of remembered spaces. His observations of Nepal's ...
