Kathmandu, Aug. 12 -- Nepal recorded 101 incidents of press freedom violations across the country in the past fiscal year, according to an annual report released by the Press Council Nepal on Wednesday.

The incidents, recorded between mid-July 2025 and mid-July 2026, involved various forms of interference, intimidation and attacks against journalists and media outlets, according to the council's annual records.

A statement issued by Dipak Khanal, spokesperson for the council, said 119 working journalists were affected by the incidents. They included 113 men and six women. The number of journalists affected was higher than the number of incidents because some cases involved more than one journalist, the council said.
