Kathmandu, March 7 -- The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is consolidating its position in Nepal's 2026 general elections, leading both the proportional representation and first-past-the-post (FPTP) counts.
According to the Election Commission, RSP has secured 35,091 proportional votes, or 57.2 percent of the 61,399 ballots counted so far.
In the FPTP contest, the party has won 25 seats and is leading in 93 constituencies, signalling a major shift away from traditional powerhouses.
The Nepali Congress is in second place in proportional votes with 10,527 (17 percent) and has won five FPTP seats, while the CPN-UML has 5,191 proportional votes and one FPTP seat.
