Passport procurement under scrutiny as antigraft body arrests four
Kathmandu, June 18 -- The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has intensified its crackdown on alleged irregularities in a passport procurement contract.
After arresting Director General Tirtha Raj Aryal and Director Sunil Kumar KC on Tuesday, the anti-graft body on Wednesday detained Manindra Raj Malla, a Nepali agent of the German company Muehlbauer ID Services GmbH, and Tulsi Prasad Acharya, the department's former accounts officer.
The Special Court has granted permission to keep them in custody. "Four people have been arrested in connection with the investigation," Suresh Neupane, spokesperson for the constitutional anti-graft body, told the Post.
