Oft-battered Langtang Valley cut off after Rasuwa floods
Kathmandu, Sept. 2 -- The popular tourist destination of Langtang in Rasuwa has been cut off from the district headquarters Dhunche following the Bhotekoshi floods of August 26.
With bridges, roads, trails and parts of the market area in Syafrubesi swept away, people now have to walk via Thulo Syafrubesi to reach Dhunche, said Sandu Chusang, a ward member of Langtang in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality-4.
"The trail through Thulo Syafrubesi is also in poor condition during the monsoon," he said over the phone. "There is no immediate alternative to a helicopter for travelling to Dhunche and then to Kathmandu. Helicopters are also ferrying people stranded here to Dhunche."
