Kathmandu, April 8 -- The government has welcomed the recent announcement of a two-week ceasefire agreement between the USA and Iran, describing it as a constructive move towards easing tensions in West Asia.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said the truce provides an opportunity for dialogue, diplomacy and the peaceful resolution of differences between the two countries.

"Nepal views this development as a positive step towards the promotion of peace and stability in the region," the ministry said, reiterating its long-standing position in favour of resolving disputes through peaceful means.
