Kathmandu, June 17 -- A man has been arrested in Tulsipur after a video showing a woman being assaulted and threatened with a khukuri surfaced on social media.

Police at Tulsipur Sub-metropolitan City said they arrested 24-year-old Ramesh Thada Magar of Bhanke in ward 2 of the city.

Police said they also recovered controlled substances from his residence.

According to police, the incident occurred around three months ago when Magar allegedly took a young woman to a forest area, threatened her with a khukuri and assaulted her.

He later posted the video on his Facebook account at around 8:30pm on Tuesday, police said.

Following the upload, police arrested him from his home at around 10:40pm the same night.
