Lamjung, July 28 -- A man and his teenage daughter were killed after an irrigation canal embankment collapsed and buried a grain storage shed in Bhatbesi of Madhya Nepal Municipality-7, Lamjung, in the early hours of Tuesday.

The incident occurred at around 2:35am when the canal, which carries water from the Chiti stream to Bhatbesi, gave way, burying a two-storey mud-and-stone granary owned by resident Bishnu Datta Subedi.

According to police, 59-year-old Tik Bahadur BK of Nayu, Marsyangdi Rural Municipality-1, and his 15-year-old daughter, Binita BK, who had been living temporarily in the granary, were trapped under the debris. Both later succumbed to their injuries.
