Landslide puts five houses at risk in Kathmandu's Tarakeshwar
Kathmandu, Aug. 23 -- Around 50 households have been affected by a landslide at Ashtaman Tole, Jarankhu, in ward 6 of Tarakeshwar Municipality after earth was excavated for house construction.
Locals said five houses are at direct risk from the landslide, while the debris has also made it difficult for residents to move along the neighbourhood road.
According to residents, the problem began after a bulldozer was used to cut into the slope for the construction project. Excavation and construction have been underway for about two years, but locals complain that the work has progressed slowly.
