Sankhuwasabha, May 31 -- A landslide has blocked a section of the Koshi Highway at Sirek in ward 4 of Bhotkhola Rural Municipality in Sankhuwasabha, bringing traffic to a complete halt.

The Khandbari-Kimathanka road section was obstructed on Friday afternoon.

Police said around 10 to 15 metres of the road has been covered by the landslide. Vehicles and passengers travelling through the area were affected.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Kumar Prasad Mainali of the District Police Office said a police team was deployed immediately after the incident. He said coordination is underway with local authorities and concerned agencies to clear the debris and reopen the road.
