Kathmandu, Feb. 27 -- The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, has imposed a blanket ban on setting up stages, organising musical events and holding fairs in public places during Holi on Monday.
The decision comes ahead of Thursday's House of Representatives election, citing security concerns and enforcement of the election code of conduct.
In a notice issued by Assistant Chief District Officer Muktiram Rijal, the administration said Holi could be misused for political campaigning in violation of the code. It has stepped up monitoring.
The notice bars the use of vests, T-shirts, shirts, scarves, caps, masks or lockets bearing election symbols or images of political parties or candidates.
