Himalaya Airlines, Nepal-Tibet joint venture, comes under financial stress
Kathmandu, Oct. 6 -- Himalaya Airlines, the Nepal-Tibet joint venture, is facing growing financial pressure, with its outstanding dues to Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport reaching Rs629 million as rising operating costs, weak passenger demand, and repeated disruptions continue to weigh on its finances.
The outstanding amount includes landing, parking and navigation charges, passenger service fees collected from travellers, and cargo-related charges, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal.
The civil aviation regulator said the airline's dues have accumulated under 11 different headings, with passenger service fees accounting for the largest share at around Rs440 million.
