Dolakha, July 23 -- Flash floods in the Khare river in northern Dolakha have eroded riverbanks, placing the Langota and Kharekhola settlements in Ward 8 of Gaurishankar Rural Municipality at immediate risk.

Floodwaters that surged through the river on Wednesday night triggered severe erosion, leaving more than 15 houses in Langota vulnerable. As the river continues to erode the banks, residents have begun moving their belongings to safer locations, according to resident Ramesh Shrestha.

"The river is still cutting into the settlement, and there is a real risk that parts of the village could be washed away," he said.

The flooding has also threatened Gurumphi Bazaar in Ward 6 and the Sumna settlement in Ward 5 of Gaurishankar Rural Munic...
