Kathmandu, Aug. 26 -- Flooding has destroyed a 42-kilometre stretch of road linking Betrawati in Nuwakot with the Rasuwagadhi border crossing with China, according to the Department of Roads.

"Information we have received shows that the flood has completely damaged the 42-kilometre road from Betrawati to the Rasuwagadhi border crossing. The flood has also swept away several concrete bridges along the route," said Shubharaj Neupane, deputy director general and spokesperson for the department. "We are still collecting details of the damage."

Further details are awaited on the 16-kilometre section from Syafrubesi towards the border, Neupane said.
