Gorkha/dhading, Oct. 11 -- A flash flood in the Budhi Gandaki river early Sunday has caused widespread damage in Chumnubri and Dharche rural municipalities in Gorkha district. The flood has swept away houses, bridges and infrastructure at a hydropower project, while inundating settlements and putting more homes at risk. Authorities are still assessing the damage and investigating the cause.

1. An estimated 35 to 40 houses swept away

Flash flooding in the Budhi Gandaki river on Sunday morning swept away an estimated 35 to 40 houses in Jagat Bagar, Salleri and Ghattikhola in Chumnubri Rural Municipality, according to the rural municipality's administrative chief, Narayan Prasad Sapkota.
