Family files complaint against city police over self-immolation death
Kathmandu, July 13 -- The family of Ganesh Nepali, the ride-hailing driver who died after setting himself on fire following an altercation with municipal police in Tripureshwar, has filed a formal complaint against officers at the Metropolitan Police Range, Kalimati.
The complaint alleges that Nepali's death was the direct consequence of Kathmandu Metropolitan City's municipal police locking the wheel of his motorcycle outside the Department of Passports. The family has demanded a full investigation and legal action against those responsible.
Senior Superintendent of Police Pawan Bhattarai, chief of the Kathmandu District Police Range, confirmed that the complaint had been registered.
