Congress factions move closer to unity deal, lower-level convention schedule set for revision
Kathmandu, Sept. 6 -- The Nepali Congress is set to revise the schedule for its lower-level conventions for a second time, with the party's internal unity efforts and recent floods disrupting preparations.
General secretary Pradeep Paudel said on Sunday that the ward-level conventions, scheduled to begin Wednesday, would be rescheduled. The date for the party's general convention, however, will remain unchanged, he said. The convention is scheduled for October 2-5.
The Central Working Committee meeting, which was underway on Sunday, is expected to take a decision on the revised schedule.
