Chinese climber sets historic double Everest and Lhotse summit record
Kathmandu, May 27 -- Chinese climber Gexi Luori has set a new chapter in mountaineering history by successfully summiting both Everest and Lhotse twice in a single climbing season. This achievement, claimed by Seven Summit Treks, is the first of its kind in the history of high-altitude climbing.
According to Thaneswar Guragain, managing director of Seven Summit Treks, Gexi summited Everest on May 17 at 7:01am. He then reached the summit of Lhotse the next day at 7:50am. After that, he summited Lhotse again at 7:50am on May 25 and reached the Everest again at 3:30am on Wednesday.
The time between his two Everest summits was just nine days, 20 hours, and 15 minutes. This record establishes a new benchmark in high-altitude climbing.
