Kathmandu, Aug. 11 -- The government has declared four people who were killed during recent clashes in Sunsari and Siraha districts as martyrs.

A Cabinet meeting on Tuesday approved martyr status for Omprakash Mehta, Jayprakash Mehta and Rabindra Kumar Mehta of Sunsari, and Ganesh Kumar Yadav of Siraha.

The clashes took place on July 26 in Kaptanganj of Dewanganj Rural Municipality-3 in Sunsari. Omprakash died at the scene, while Jayprakash and Rabindra Kumar later died while undergoing treatment. In a separate incident, Ganesh was killed on July 27 during a confrontation in Golbazar, Siraha.
