41 percent voter turnout recorded in Kathmandu by 1pm
Kathmandu, March 5 -- Voter turnout in Kathmandu reached 41 percent by 1pm on Thursday, according to the Election Commission.
A total of 288,659 ballots have been cast across the Capital's 10 constituencies. Kathmandu has 710,708 registered voters.
Polling has been taking place peacefully at 320 polling centres in the district, the commission said. Voting began at 7am and no incidents have been reported so far.
In neighbouring districts, voter turnout reached 24 percent in Bhaktapur and 31 percent in Lalitpur by early afternoon.
