Kathmandu, Sept. 1 -- Nearly 1.6 million people have been affected by the devastating Bhotekoshi floods, which have killed over 1,000 people and left nearly 4,000 missing, according to the government's preliminary situation report released on Tuesday.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, identified Rasuwa and Nuwakot as the worst-affected districts. Dhading, Gorkha and Chitwan were listed as moderately affected.

The authority said 1,050 people had lost their lives so far, underscoring the scale of one of Nepal's deadliest disasters.
