Kathmandu, July 3 -- After returning to lead the Ministry of Home Affairs following a probe into a share investment controversy, Home Minister Sudan Gurung made a high-profile decision to reopen the investigation into the 2001 royal palace massacre. The move was welcomed by some on social media, while others dismissed it as a publicity stunt, questioning the revival of a 25-year-old case file.

Three weeks after the announcement, the ministry is still unclear on how to proceed. Whether the investigation should be handled by Nepal Police or an independent committee has yet to be decided. As a result, the investigation has made no progress.
