JAMMU, April 30 -- Shiv Sena (UBT)'s Jammu and Kashmir unit on Wednesday welcomed the operation of the Vande Bharat Express between Jammu and Srinagar, saying the high-speed rail connectivity will provide a major boost to the regional economy, tourism and trade.

Party workers also displayed placards at the state office in Jammu to welcome the initiative.

In a statement, J&K unit chief Manish Sahni said the service comes at a crucial time with the tourist season underway and the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra set to commence shortly.

"The Vande Bharat service will play a vital role in ensuring fast, safe and convenient travel for tourists, pilgrims and other passengers, while also accelerating economic activity in Jammu," Sahni said.
