JAMMU, Aug. 28 -- Police have registered a case against Abid Nengroo, district general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Anantnag, for allegedly cheating a person on the pretext of securing a government job and facilitating permission to install tents at Pahalgam during the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
Nengroo is the third Kashmir-based BJP functionary to face a police case over allegations of cheating, fraud or related offences in different parts of the Valley in the past 15 days.
According to officials, the case was registered at Police Station Anantnag following a written complaint submitted by Waheed Ahmad Itoo, a resident of Aishmuqam who is presently staying at the GDC Boys Hostel in Khanabal.
