Jammu, Aug. 17 -- To improve passenger amenities and further strengthen rail operations, work on the Trip Shed Extension Project at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra in the Jammu Division of Northern Railway is progressing rapidly. The main objective of this expansion is to augment the existing maintenance facilities and increase the locomotive handling capacity at Katra Railway Station.
Under this expansion, 2 additional bays and 2 pit lines are being constructed in the Trip Shed. Once completed, a total of 6 locomotives will be able to simultaneously undergo maintenance and technical inspections in this Trip Shed.
