UDHAMPUR, March 2 -- District Police Udhampur continued its sustained and focused drive against bovine smuggling during the months of January and February 2026, reaffirming its firm commitment to curb illegal activities in the district.
During this period, 34 cases related to bovine smuggling were registered, resulting in the rescue of 250 bovines from unlawful transportation attempts.
As part of stringent enforcement measures 39 persons were arrested/detained, including 38 individuals arrested in bovine smuggling cases, while 01 habitual offender was booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA).
Further, 28 vehicles used in the commission of bovine smuggling offences were seized.
