JAMMU, Oct. 2 -- The old footpath that once carried generations of Jammu pilgrims to Mata Vaishno Devi may soon come back to life. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday accorded administrative approval for restoring the traditional pilgrimage route to the cave shrine, via Bamyal, at an estimated cost of Rs 15 crore.

The Chief Minister said the project aims to preserve the route's heritage while strengthening infrastructure and improving facilities for pilgrims. The work will focus on restoring and upgrading the track to make the journey smoother, safer and more convenient for devotees, without erasing its historical and cultural character.
