Mathura, July 30 -- More than one crore fifty lakh devotees performed circumambulation of Govardhan Hills as the yearly Mudiya Poono (Purnima) fair is set to conclude today.

Highlighting the importance of the fair, G K Purohit Sewayat at the Danghati temple told that the yearly festival is now nearly 470 years old. This fair commemorates Sanatan Goswami, a disciple of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and devotee of Girraj maharaj, who died on the full-moon day (Poornima).

"As per rituals, his followers shave their heads on Monday, since yesterday was Tuesday.

They are performing a circumambulation of Govardhan Hills amid the beating of Dhol and Kirtan," he added. Marking the end of the fair.
