Kulgam, May 2 -- In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Kulgam Police have dismantled an inter-state drug network and attached illegally acquired property worth Rs 92.73 lakh at Beli Charana in Jammu, officials said.

The action stems from a case registered on March 20, 2026, when a police team from Qazigund Police Station apprehended a suspicious individual during routine patrolling at Kurigam near the Railway Station Qazigund. The accused, identified as Mohammad Rafiq Mir of Panzinara, Srinagar, was found in possession of approximately 16 grams of heroin, commonly known as brown sugar.

Following the recovery, FIR No. 43/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act was registered and investigation was initiated.
