New Delhi, Aug. 29 -- Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi on Saturday directed officials to deploy additional machinery at the Bhalswa landfill to expedite biomining and ensure that the remaining legacy waste is cleared within the stipulated timeframe.

Inspecting the landfill site and reviewing the ongoing remediation work, Wahi said only around 4-5 lakh tonnes of legacy waste remained at the dumpsite, according to an official statement.

Around 15,000 tonnes of waste is currently being processed daily at the site, he said, directing officials to step up the pace of operations by deploying more machines.
