Jammu, April 10 -- Signs of unease are growing within the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Indian National Congress, with several leaders reportedly approaching the party high command to seek permission to openly oppose policies of the National Conference-led government in the Union Territory.
Highly placed sources said that senior Congress functionaries have conveyed their "deep frustration" over what they described as a lack of political space and consultation within the coalition arrangement. According to them, the alliance with the National Conference exists largely on paper, as key policy decisions and governance matters are allegedly being handled unilaterally without taking Congress leaders into confidence.
