Centre plans law to punish insult to 'Vande Mataram'
Jammu, July 17 -- The Narendra Modi-led Central Government is set to introduce a Bill in Parliament that seeks to make insulting or deliberately obstructing the singing of 'Vande Mataram', India's National Song, a punishable offence. According to sources, the proposed legislation is likely to be tabled in the Rajya Sabha during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament. The Bill aims to provide a legal framework to deal with incidents involving the intentional disruption, insult or obstruction of the singing or rendition of Vande Mataram.
