New Delhi, May 29 -- The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of the upgradation of the post held by senior IPS officer Umesh Chander Datta in the Special Protection Group (SPG).

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on May 28, 2026, the ACC cleared the proposal of the Office of Secretary (Security), Cabinet Secretariat, for continuing the upgraded post of Inspector General (IG), Level-14, against the existing post of Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Level-13A.
