Jammu, Aug. 14 -- Thirty-eight personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police have been awarded the Medal for Gallantry (GM) on the occasion of Independence Day 2026, according to the official list of awardees. The recipients belong to various ranks of the J&K Police, including Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Superintendent of Police (SP), Inspector, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), Head Constable, Selection Grade Constable (SgCT) and Constable.
The gallantry medals recognise the courage, bravery and exceptional service rendered by police personnel in challenging circumstances while performing their duties.
