Vertiv acquires UIG as power becomes AI bottleneck
India, Sept. 10 -- For AI data centres, getting enough power can be just as important as getting enough compute. Vertiv's decision to acquire UtilityInnovation Group, or UIG, points to how that challenge is changing data centre planning.
Vertiv acquires UIG for approximately USD 1.45 billion in cash at closing, with up to another USD 1.15 billion tied to EBITDA targets over 12- and 24-month periods. The deal takes Vertiv further upstream, toward the grid interconnect and onsite power architecture.
The acquisition is expected to be accretive to adjusted earnings per share in the first year after completion.
